Sustained-Release Niacin with niaXtend provides niacin in a form that helps minimize the incidence of uncomfortable skin flushing that is commonly associated with niacin. Approximately 200 coenzymes are comprised of niacin that play pivotal roles in metabolism and energy production within the body. niaXtend® has been tested to encourage a favorable blood lipid profile. Research suggests that niacin, in combination with a well-balanced diet, may help maintain healthy cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range.

Way back in the early 80s I was working at a Scientology org in Santa Barbara CA. They were big on something called the purification run-down. It invo
...lved taking enough niacin to cause major flushing and then sweating, preferably in a sauna while drinking plenty of water (this is before we were hydrating). The idea was that the niacin dilates the capillaries in fat tissue causing toxins to enter the blood and get sweated out. Supplementing with other water-soluble nutrients is also important. People seemed to benefit from the practice. An AIDS patient I knew did the purification run-down and the change was amazing. Don't know about his long-term prognosis. Lost touch with him. Anyway, the fear of flushing seems unfounded. As far as cholesterol goes, do some research online. There are many posts from reputable sources that reveal information that may surprise you. Do some research about the link between brain health and cholesterol and you'll be doing yourself a favor, especially as you become elderly.

i just wanted to give some brief up front information on Niacin's effectiveness. i will update as time goes on . i am a registered pharmacist and
... have been in practice for over 20 years. I have always been a big advocate of herbal medicine and regardless of what mainstream medicine says ..they play a strong role in disease management, more than you think. I can tell u honestly that Allopathic doctors (MD's ) are way too pen happy when it comes to writing prescriptions . This is largely due in part to the kickbacks they receive from Big Pharma for writing as many legend drugs as they can get on a prescription pad!! this is my opinion only. Statin drugs are way over prescribed these days and they have their flaws i can attest!. SE'S include muscle weakness; can precipitate type 2 diabetes (it may be small chance but if u are borderline diabetic they can tip you over the edge) To be brief they are not for everyone. Niacin , or Nicotinic acid on the other hand is a form of Vitamin B3 . it's a natural product unlike statin's that are 100% man made .you want the more natural product.

In my 40’s, regardless of being vegan and active, I ended up with high LDL for the first time and I have always had low HDL. My total cholesterol ha
...s always been normal. I tried all the things people said would lower my LDL and raise my HDL. I tried red yeast rice, which dramatically lowered my total cholesterol, hardly touched my LDL and lowered my HDL into the 30’s - yikes! Then I tried Niacin and found it to raise my HDL but didn’t lower my LDL, but I didn’t take it every day due to the potential to cause liver damage.
Then I tried Citrus Bergamot which is apparently the holy grail for HDL. Holy grail for lowering total cholesterol for sure but hardly touched my LDL and lowered my HDL to 28!!!!
This has been a saga.
