Why is it important for babies and children to consume essential fatty acids?
We know how important it is for us all to consume enough essential fatty acids to maintain a healthy mind and body, but these are especially important during the first two years of life when the brain develops most rapidly. A developing baby will receive essential fatty acids through its mother’s placenta during pregnancy, and if breast-fed, during breast-feeding, or through infant formula.
Following this stage, it is important that the growing baby obtains these essential fatty acids through their own diet.
