Product Information

What is Provinal?

Provinal® contains purified palmitoleic acid, which is formed in the body from the conversion of glucose to fatty acids. It can also be obtained from plant and marine sources.

Benefits of Life Extension Provinal Purified Omega-7 Softgels

This fatty acid has been shown to support healthy cholesterol and healthy levels of inflammatory parameters (C-reactive protein).

Palmitoleic acid acts as a direct regulator of metabolism, with actions including:

  • Suppression of adipocyte cytokine expression;
  • Promotion of pancreatic B cell proliferation and secretory function to support insulin production and glucose management;
  • Enhancement of skeletal muscle glucose uptake;
  • Stimulation of a nuclear receptor involved in fatty acid metabolism, as well as modulation of cell proliferation and differentiation.

Provinal® contains no GMO ingredients. Each softgel contains less than 1% palmitic acid, which is less than the amount of palmitic acid contained in half of a macadamia nut.

    Why Omega-3 Fatty Acids are Important

    What is Omega-3?

    Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid. Your body cannot produce them on its own and so people typically obtain it through either diet or supplements. They play a crucial role in the body and are beneficial for health. There are three main types of omega-3 fatty acids1:

    1. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA): This plant-based omega-3 is found in foods like flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, and soybeans. ALA is a precursor to the other omega-3 fatty acids, meaning your body can convert small amounts of ALA into EPA and DHA, although the conversion process is not very efficient.
    2. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA): This type is mainly found in fish and other seafood. EPA is known for its anti-inflammatory effects and can contribute to the health of your heart and joints.
    3. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA): Also primarily found in fish and seafood, DHA is important for brain and eye health, especially during the early stages of life.
