Serums

Serums are lightweight, fast-absorbing, potent formulations that combine a high concentration of active skincare ingredients to treat various skincare concerns. Serums are designed to target specific skin concerns, such as anti-ageing, brightening, or hydration. Serums are an essential component of a well-rounded skincare routine, as they penetrate deeply into the skin, offering intensive treatment and delivering results more effectively. Incorporating a serum into your daily skincare regimen can help address specific issues and enhance the overall health and appearance of your skin.

All you need to know about Serums

How to apply a face serum?

It is best to apply a face serum after cleansing and toning but before you apply a moisturiser. This is because moisturisers tend to be in a thicker creamy texture and so the serum will struggle to absorb well through it.

The best way to apply a face serum is as follows:

  1. Start off by giving your face a quick massage, this will encourage blood flow to the skin which will help absorption
  2. Pour a small amount of serum into the palm of one hand
  3. With your other hand, dab your fingertips into the serum
  4. Now gently dab the serum all over your face
  5. Leave it to absorb for at least sixty seconds before moving on to your remaining skincare routine.

What does a face serum do for my skin?

The simple answer is that serums can do anything, depending on what you buy it for. In many cases people pick serums to provide a specific benefit. Lots of face serums are designed to target the signs of ageing like wrinkles and fine lines but there are lots of serums in the market that have been designed to aid skin concerns like acne, blemishes or redness whilst others aim to relieve dry or dehydrated skin.

When should I apply a face serum?

Most serums are designed and intended to be used twice a day but for lots of people pushed for time this is simply not achievable. If you are only planning to use a serum once then the Landys Chemist skincare experts recommend you use it at night. At night your skin loses more moisture than in the day and your DNA also repairs itself while  you sleep. Applying a serum at night will give your skin the best chance to retain moisture and recover effectively.
