Wild Nutrition Pure Strength Omega-3 Capsules 120
Product Information
Our Pure Strength Omega 3 provides 800mg of EPA and 400mg of DHA in easy-to-swallow capsules from MSC certified, sustainable Alaskan Pollock. Omega 3 Fish oils have been shown to support brain, heart and eye health as well as being essential during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Alaskan Omega fish oil is the only source of omega 3 fish oils to be awarded the eco label certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). Even our capsule shell is MSC certified. Fish are caught with selective mid-trawl nets in Alaska, meaning that there is an ultra low by-catch (fish that is not going to be used for oil) percentage that far exceeds industry standards. Our sustainable oils are processed from freshly-caught fish and refined by a family-run refinery where they go through a process of molecular distillation and cold extraction. A large percentage of the fish is turned into pure oil very soon after its been caught. Any fish that is not turned into oil on board the boat; will be frozen and processed within 12 hours to maintain freshness and purity.
Oils are free of contaminants such as PCBs and heavy metals (e.g mercury).
The ethyl ester form of the oil requires less processing. This is because when fish oil starts it journey from fish body to actual oil, it has to go through an initial stage of being turned into an ethyl ester form; even if the end goal is to turn the ethyl ester into triglyceride. Research has shown that blood levels from taking the ethyl ester or the triglyceride forms are equal after 4 weeks of consumption.
The 2:1 ratio of the EPA and DHA was carefully considered by our formulator, nutritional therapist Henrietta Norton, to reflect the ratio naturally found in the fish. Our ethos is not to replace food, but to supplement in addition to or as needed, and therefore with a fish oil it has to reflect this desire to be as close to nature as possible.
Capsules are soft enough to chew if you prefer not to swallow them and the fish oil taste is palatable, owing to the freshness and purity of the product.
The fish oil in this product is extracted from the body of the fish, not the liver. It is not a cod liver oil. It does not contain vitamin A and therefore is safe in pregnancy and lactation. We also advise it is also taken during pre- conception in both male and female partners. DHA maternal intake during pregnancy and breastfeeding is both safe and officially recommended; contributing to the normal development of the eyes and brain of the foetus and breastfed infants.
